Back to Homeschool

Our first week is in the books... literally! We dove into our new textbooks and living books and picture books. We began to tweak, poke, and prod our schedule into a form that will work for us this fall. We took lots of breaks and had short mini-lessons, just poking our toes into the oceans of knowledge and beauty and discovery that await us. We had some tears and some laughs and more than enough emotions to go around.

Big Brother is in first grade this year, and he's been quite excited about his new subjects and books to explore. No tears or problems... yet!

Middle Brother told me he was "excited and scared" to go to school, and as I predicted, he cried and clung to me at the first-day drop off. But, on the morning of Day 2 he woke up saying, "Mommy, I like school now!" and he hasn't looked back since. I'm so happy that it's only a half day so that he can spend his afternoons at home with us.

Little Brother loooooves, I mean LOVES, having his very own school work. We spent five minutes each morning on a little alphabet workbook and he grinned with delight the entire time.

Baby Sister smiles and eats and poops and naps in a semi-predictable fashion while all the crazy happens around her.

Well, I am happy to say we all survived week one! *high five*

And we successfully made it to speech therapy, a piano lesson, the library, AND an oil change! *another high five*

AND we all came down with colds. New routines are exhausting! I'd be quite content to spend the weekend napping but alas, duty calls, and so do the children.

Out loud.

Right now, in fact.

Upward and onward, friends!
