Pond Life

Charlotte Mason recommends returning to the same nature spot over and over again, and just recently I've begun to see the wisdom in this practice. We have a favorite pond & forest area that we try to visit when the weather is good, and our boys have started to notice how it's been changing over the past few months. They're slowly learning to observe details and pay attention to what they see around them, and it's been so fascinating to watch the progression of the seasons together!

Here's a collection of photos showing how our favorite pond has changed over the past two months. Notice the amount of green in the pictures, and also the plant life in the water!

We were surprised on our latest visit there to find that the water level was drastically lower. We've had a dry spell lately but we don't know if this happens every summer. Will the pond disappear for good, until next year? Or will the next big rainfall refill it again? We don't know, but if we keep coming back we're sure to find out.

"It is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the marvels of plant and animal life

and to care for none of these things."
